Safari 4.0 beta splash screen video (updated)

March 1st, 2009 § 2 comments

I recently had the chance to download the public beta of Safari 4.0. I was previously using the “forbidden to be talked about” developer build of Safari 4.0. I must say that it has been very rock solid and I have loved seeing it pass (with flying colors) the Acid3 test. Until I’m able to get a walkthrough posted here, I wanted to just pass along the splash screen video that shows up when you first load Safari. If you’ve found something awesome in the new public beta, be sure to let me know!

Update: You can see the video again by going to http://www.apple.com/safari/welcome/ while in Safari 4.0.

One thing that’s pretty damn awesome is how that ‘video‘ is done entirely in HTML5 and CSS! The new web inspector is pretty nice, too!

The wonderful thing about it is the only “video” part of the welcome animation is the spinning compass. Everything is Webkit CSS3 keyframe animated.

What's this?
