Looking back on 2008

So, it’s now 2009! Happy New Year! Upon looking back at 2008, I’ve discovered what a great year it has been, and I hope that 2009 will be just the same. I figured I would share some of my experiences from the year, and give you a little retrospective of my life for the past year.

From ending my high school career, to beginning a hopeful college life, this year has been pack with plenty of amazing feats for me. One such feat was beginning a job with my favorite blog, TUAW (The Unofficial Apple Weblog). While I started last December (December 12 to be exact — here’s my first post), I completed by first year with the blog this past month. I have been able to meet some amazing people through my work at TUAW, and many of these people have quickly become my best online friends: Erica Sadun, Michael Rose, Dave Caolo, Christina Warren, Nik Fletcher, and the list goes on and on.

In May, I finished my high school career. Many people lead me to believe that I might not be the best “college material” … and if I had listened to them, I might not have ended up where I am today. I set out to prove them wrong.

The summer was an exceptional one, because I was able to write for one of my favorite Mac publications, Mac|Life. I wrote almost 30 iPhone application reviews, and 2 pages of tips and tricks for their < ahref="http://corybohon.com/2008/09/yours-truly-in-print/">iPhone Handbook publication. While writing for the iPhone Handbook, I met some awesome people, and I’m grateful for the things that I learned while writing there.

Many of my Twitter followers know that I have been over-obsessing about my grades in college. Well, that over-obsession finally paid off. I am proud to report that I completed my first college semester making a 3.75 GPA, and getting on the dean’s honor list.

Now back to where I am today. For the past two weeks, I have been working on some iPhone applications (which you will hear about in the coming weeks). So, everything would seem to be “looking up” so-to-speak, and I can’t wait to see what the new year brings. So, I hope each and every one of my readers have a very happy new year!
